Troubleshooting & repairs

DuPage · Kane · Kendall · Will counties, IL

Most electrical problems announce themselves before they get serious: an outlet that went dead, lights that flicker when the AC kicks on, a breaker that trips every time the microwave runs.

We track down the actual cause instead of swapping parts until something works, explain what we found, and fix it. Many repairs are done on the first visit.

Signs you need this

  • An outlet or a whole room has no power
  • Lights flicker or dim when something else turns on
  • A breaker trips repeatedly or will not reset
  • A switch, outlet or cover plate feels warm
  • You smell something hot or burning near an outlet or the panel

Questions

What should I do right now if something smells like it is burning?

Turn off the breaker for that area if you can do it safely and call us. If there is smoke or fire, get out and call 911 first.

Is a dead outlet always a big problem?

Often it is a tripped GFCI somewhere else on the circuit, or a loose connection. Loose connections should be fixed, because they can heat up.

Can you fix it the same day?

Often, yes. We carry common parts. If something needs to be ordered, we will tell you before we leave.
